Fun fact: During his time at Y Combinator, Joe Gebbia (one of the original founders of Airbnb) knew that if his startup (at the time it was called Air Bed and Breakfast) did not start getting bookings, the company would fail.

A photography hobbyist, Gebbia noticed that most of the listings for rent on his site were being represented by ametuer images primarily shot using smartphone cameras. He began to knock on the doors of his early hosts and offer professional photo shoots of their vacation homes for free. The result?
